Franchise Success Story: Joanne Ashkar from Just Cuts Campbelltown
Now welcoming franchise enquiries worldwide with 230+ salons across the globe.
When it comes to franchise success, few stories capture the Just Cuts spirit better than that of Joanne Ashkar, proud owner of Just Cuts Campbelltown. Joanne’s journey is one of growth, community and genuine passion for people, the same qualities that make Just Cuts such a trusted and thriving global brand.
Joanne’s proudest moment as a Franchise Owner came in 2020, when she was named Franchise Owner of the Year during one of the most challenging periods for small businesses. “It was during COVID, under lockdown restrictions and the Gala Awards were held on Zoom,” she recalls. “It was a crazy time for everyone, especially business owners. That same year, we also received our first Community Award for our work with We Are Community Inc., providing haircuts for the homeless, rough sleepers, and those doing it tough. That award was a true team achievement and I’m still incredibly proud of it and our amazing team.”
For Joanne, the heart of Just Cuts lies in its people. “What I love most about Just Cuts is the people; the colleagues who’ve become friends and the incredible support network that comes with being part of the brand. The wealth of shared ideas, advice and knowledge is invaluable. Everyone is so willing to help each other succeed, and that’s what makes Just Cuts such a special brand to be part of.”
Since taking ownership of the Campbelltown salon 10 years ago, after 15 years working there as a Stylist, Joanne has seen her career and confidence flourish. “Owning a Just Cuts salon has helped me grow enormously as a businessperson. I’ve learned skills I never would have otherwise and it’s allowed me to step off the tools and focus more on the business side of things. It’s also given me the chance to enjoy a better work-life balance and spend more time with family and friends, something I’m very grateful for.”
For Joanne, becoming a Franchise Owner was a natural next step. “Buying into a Just Cuts franchise made that transition so much easier than starting out on my own. All the systems, processes, technology, and support are already in place. The Just Cuts systems take the stress out of running a business, it just works.”
The Campbelltown salon has been a community staple for almost 30 years and will soon celebrate its 30th anniversary with a brand-new look. “We’re working towards bringing the New Look Just Cuts to Macarthur Square to mark the milestone,” says Joanne. “We’re also excited about the growth happening in the surrounding areas, with new developments in Figtree Hill, Appin, Wilton and Menangle, we’re expecting to see Macarthur Square booming in the coming years. The future at Just Cuts Campbelltown is looking busy, bright and exciting.”
Behind the salon’s long-term success is a strong, supportive team culture. “We’ve worked hard together to build what we have today; a collaborative environment where everyone encourages and celebrates one another’s achievements. We achieve and celebrate as a team, and that’s where the magic happens. Our Salon Team Leader works closely with everyone to ensure we’re following systems and processes, staying on track and hitting our goals.”
When it comes to product recommendations, Joanne has a clear favourite from the JUSTICE Professional range. “The Smooth & Groom Wearable Treatment is my go-to for everything - dry ends, frizz, tangles, flyaways, messy buns, bed hair - you name it! It’s great for everyone, and the travel size makes it easy to take anywhere.”
From award-winning leadership to community impact and team culture, Joanne’s story reflects the strength of the Just Cuts franchise model; a proven, people-focused business that continues to grow across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and now Canada.
